MEDICAL ELECTIVES ABROAD
SUMMER 2025 INTERNSHIPS AND ELECTIVES : APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN!
About Us:
We are a group of doctors, nurses and other medical professionals who host medical and healthcare students from around the world for healthcare electives in Kenya.
Our visiting students and professionals get a hands on opportunity to experience how the Kenya healthcare system works.
Each elective placement is always tailored to individual student objectives and purpose during your stay with us.
We facilitate rotations in both urban and rural settings within Kenya, including the Kenyatta National Hospital in the capital, Nairobi.
Our students have varied interests, including nursing, medicine, dentistry and mental health. This has pushed us to have tailor made programs that provide the best experience according to individual student objectives.
Our Services
Founded by local medics in 2024,we mainly focus on placement of healthcare students from around the world in Kenyan hospitals for their electives. Our programs allow you to have the opportunity to work on the frontlines of hospitals and clinics with local professionals and colleagues.
The placements include rotations in different hospital departments according to student professional interests and objectives, giving the student a glimpse of the field they may have interest in.
As an agency we organise and plan your accommodation, means of transport in Kenya and of course we take care of what you eat; making sure your stay with us is mainly focused on your professional objectives.
Along with the hospital rotations , our guests get to participate in community acivities including volunteering in local organisations, day tours, a taste of the different cuisines in Kenya and a general cultural experience that only comes with a local guide : us !
Having a team that has worked in healthcare for several years,we founded the idea of Kenya Med Electives in 2024.The The goal is to offer an affordable alternative for students seeking electives abroad that enhance their applications to healthcare programs globally.
With a lack of a local agency coordinating the elective programs for visiting students, we previously noted how students miss out on several aspects of their program, including less exposure and 1:1 mentoring. Hence, Kenya Med Electives was born;to help improve the whole elective experience with a touch of the local culture.
As a guarantee, we offer the best clinical exposure to our students and a wholesome experience that involves local communities and new friends.
